Veteran's or Fraternal Club Licenses

What This License Allows

This license allows a qualifying club to:

  • Serve all alcoholic beverages, including distilled spirits, wine, and beer
  • Apply for gambling
  • Be open from 8:00 AM to 2:00 AM

License Types

A Veterans License is used by clubs serving:

  • Enlisted personnel
  • Noncommissioned Officers
  • Officers

A Fraternal Club License is used by clubs serving:

  • Members based on a common tie or the pursuit of a common object
  • Operates under a lodge system
  • Members that have a substantial program of fraternal activities

Fees

  • County New License Fee: $250
  • City New License Fee: $250-$650
  • Application Processing Fee: $400
  • Renewal Fee: $250-$650

Note: The application processing fee only applies to original applications and is not applied to renewals.


Application Requirements

To apply for this license, you must have a designated bar area and your club must be:

  • Located on a state or federal military reservation on May 13, 1985
  • Any post of a nationally chartered veteran's organization
  • Any active lodge of a recognized national fraternal organization if it existed more than 5 years before January 1, 1949
  • Apply for the license at the same location that it has occupied for the last 5 years. 
  • A post of a nationally chartered veterans' organization or a lodge of a recognized national fraternal organization that has held a veterans' or fraternal license within the past 10 years is not subject to the 5-year same location requirement
  • Most Veterans or Fraternal Club Licenses are nontransferable and non-assignable regarding ownership.

License Quotas and Limits

Quota limits do not apply when considering Veterans or Fraternal Licenses.

City vs. County Licenses

  • City License: Used by a club located inside the city limits of an incorporated city or township, or within five miles of the city limits.
  • County License: Used by a club anywhere in a county, except within five miles of a city or township.

Application Options


Renewal Date

A veterans or fraternal club license must be renewed every year by June 30.
